Why can I have differences between the widgets linked to quotes and the filtered quote lists?

Updated over a week ago

When you analyze your business indicators, you may notice discrepancies between the amounts shown in your widgets and those in your quote lists. These differences are normal and can be attributed to varying calculation logics between these two tools.

This article presents the main cases where these differences occur, helping you to interpret your data correctly.

Case 1: Filtering by Business Unit

What happens?

When you filter your data by Business Unit, the widgets and quote lists do not display the same amounts because they apply different logics.

How do widgets filtered by BU work?

Widgets like "Revenue signed by BU" or "Gross Margin signed by month and by BU" calculate only the amounts distributed to the selected Business Unit.

Concrete example:

• Quote X converted to project: €10,000 in Revenue

• Distribution: 60% BU A / 40% BU B

Result in widgets:

• Widget filtered on BU A → €6,000

• Widget filtered on BU B → €4,000

How do quote lists filtered by BU work?

Quote lists display all quotes containing at least one distribution to the selected BU, with the total amount of the quote.

Concrete example (same quote):

• Quote X: €10,000 in Revenue

• Distribution: 60% BU A / 40% BU B

Result in the lists:

• List filtered on BU A → €10,000

• List filtered on BU B → €10,000

Case 2: Signed quote widgets vs won quote lists

What happens?

Widgets related to signed quotes (like "Revenue signed by BU" or "Gross Margin signed by month and by BU") are based on the project creation date, while won quote lists are based on the date the quote moved to "Won" status.

Why does this difference create discrepancies?

In Furious, signed Revenue and Gross Margin are recorded at the time of project creation, which can occur on a different date than when the quote moves to "Won".

Concrete example:

• Quote created on January 15, 2025

• Quote moved to "Won" on January 28, 2025

• Project created on February 5, 2025

• Amount: €10,000

Result:

• List of won quotes in January → €10,000

• "Revenue signed" widget for January → €0

• "Revenue signed" widget for February → €10,000

Key takeaways

The differences between widgets and quote lists are due to distinct calculation logics: widgets filter by distributed amounts (BU case) or are based on the project creation date (signed quotes case), while lists display total amounts and are based on quote status.
